Canada Day festivities planned for Galt Gardens, Henderson Lake Park

Galt Gardens and Henderson Lake Park will be filled with activities on July 1st to mark Canada Day.

Events happening at Galt Gardens include a charity breakfast that is hosted by the Interfaith Food Bank, a Show and Shine put on by the Le Barons Car Club and an artisan market. There will also be live entertainment and a Tipi & Indigenous education area.

Henderson Lake also will play host to a plethora of activities on Canada’s 157th birthday. There will be face painting, bouncy castles, cultural demonstrations throughout the park and entertainment on the main stage that includes live music and dance performances. Also, depending on the weather, there will be a fireworks display to mark the day.

Because of the celebrations at Henderson Lake Park, there will be several road closures in place, including Parkside Drive South, 28th Street South, 29th Street South and 31st Street South.

At both locations, there will also be numerous there will numerous food vendors.

As well city transit will be free to use and operate on a statutory holiday schedule. As well there will be a pair of routes offering extended Canada Day service for the fireworks show at Henderson Lake Park to take people to and bring them back from the show.
