Lethbridge locations among bottle depots supporting Jasper wildfire relief with bottle drive

On Wednesday, Ability Resource Centre’s north and south Lethbridge bottle depot locations will be among those supporting the Alberta Day of Caring for Jasper. Both locations will be accepting bottles and cash donations to assist those impacted in Jasper and other affected areas in Alberta due to wildfires.

“It’s a province-wide fundraiser campaign with bottle depots across Alberta,” says North Bottle Depot Supervisor Kyla Wyrostok. “Making it easy for Albertans to participate in this massive bottle drive.”

The Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta will match every dollar donated by Canadians to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Fires Appeal. This means, every $1 donated will become $3 to support those affected by the wildfires.

“If the fire moves or grows, Red Cross will include other communities as recipients,” adds Wyrostok. “People can donate their bottles to either of the depots. If they don’t have any bottles, they’re more than welcome to give cash donations at any of our tills.”

According to Wyrostok, the fundraising campaign will be happening throughout the week and may continue even longer, if support is still needed.
