Winter Walk Day highlights the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle

Lace up your boots, grab a toque, step outside and embrace the fresh air, says Alberta Minister of Tourism and Cardston-Siksika MLA Joseph Schow, as Winter Walk Day returns Feb. 5.

“Winter Walk Day is the perfect opportunity to get outside, get active and enjoy the beauty of our Albertan winters,” adds Schow.

Last year, more than 146,000 winter walkers participated in the province-wide event, which promotes outdoor activity.

Since 2006, Albertans have bundled up and headed outside for a 15-minute walk, individually or as part of a team on the first Wednesday in February.

According to the Alberta government, the event highlights the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle.

You’re encouraged to register and share a photo of your winter walk on social media by using #WinterWalkDay.
