Lethbridge rental prices rise higher then those in Edmonton: report

The cost of rent in Lethbridge is higher than the cost of rent in Alberta’s capital city, according to the latest National Rent Report for Urbanation and Rentals.ca.

According to the latest report, which ranks 60 rental markets across the country, Lethbridge finished 51st, with the cost of a one-bedroom rental in April on average costing $1,322 per month, down 3.2 per cent from March but a 2.6 per cent uptick from the same month last year. A two-bedroom rental on average cost $1,535 a month, down 2.2 per cent from March to April, but up three per cent from the last year.

Eight cities from Alberta were included on the list of 60 communities, with Calgary finishing 47th, Airdrie finishing 49th, Edmonton 52nd, Fort McMurray 52nd and Red Deer 55th. As well Medicine Hat finished 58th on the list and Lloydminster finished 59th. Across these cities the price for a one-bedroom rental on average ranges from $1,579 a month in Calgary to $1,050 a month in Lloyminster; while a two-bedroom range on average from $1,913 to $1,256 a month.

Across Canada, North Vancouver continues to report the most expensive rent in the country with a one-bedroom rental on average costing $2,680 per month and a two-bedroom costing $3,563.
