Lethbridge continues to be a hub for top-notch international and local entertainment, especially at the newly-named VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
Bringing high-calibre productions like Riverdance to Lethbridge is incredibly important for the local community and the surrounding region, says Acting General Manager Jennifer Norsworthy. The arena hosted the popular show earlier this month.
“These shows provide residents with access to world-class entertainment without having to travel to major metropolitan centres. They also serve as a catalyst for tourism, attracting visitors who dine in our restaurants, stay in our hotels and explore everything Lethbridge has to offer. It enhances our city’s cultural vibrancy and creates shared experiences that bring people together, something we’re proud to help foster,” Norsworthy notes.
According to Norsworthy, the arena plays a significant role in driving tourism in the region. “We’re fortunate to be a hub for major events, hosting everything from WHL Lethbridge Hurricanes games to PBR events and large-scale concerts.”
“These events not only attract local attendees, but also bring in visitors from neighbouring communities and beyond, many of whom stay overnight, shop locally and contribute to our local economy. Beyond entertainment, our arena also offers versatile event spaces that accommodate everything from weddings and business conferences to trade shows, making us a true multipurpose destination,” adds Norsworthy.
Some of the other big names that have graced the arena stage include Kiss, Elton John, Snoop Dogg, Carrie Underwood, Brooks and Dunn and The Tragically Hip.
As for the transition to the new name, VisitLethbridge.com Arena has certainly come with its challenges, Norsworthy explains. “Many in the community were familiar with the Enmax Centre name, given this was our identity for over 20 years. We’ve been very intentional in how we’ve rolled out the rebrand, and the response has been increasingly positive.”
Moving forward, Norsworthy says the arena is always looking to raise the bar and bring bigger and more exciting events to the city. “Our recent lineup, which includes major acts like Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley, is a great example of what this venue is capable of hosting. These successes demonstrate Lethbridge can support large-scale touring productions and nationally-recognized artists.”
“Of course, we’re always looking for ways to improve — whether that’s upgrading infrastructure, refining logistics or enhancing the guest experience. Our goal is to continue positioning VisitLethbridge.com Arena as a premiere venue in southern Alberta, and we’re committed to growing our impact year over year.”
