Join the Adopt-A-Park Program and take part in a litter cleanup in the park.
Plant a tree in Rotary Brook Park, behind Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre, from 5-7 p.m.
Waste and Environment Communications and Outreach Specialist Stephanie Vehnon says the event is a great opportunity for residents of all ages to get outdoors and learn more about the programs and initiatives the City offers. “It’s a fun, free outdoor event. The community can come together, explore, learn and participate.”
Additional activities include giant Jenga, a scavenger hunt and colouring activities.
Vehnon adds the event has adapted over the years. “It started small and now it was made into a one-day bigger activity for the community to get involved in. This is the third official year doing it this way.”
It’s important for residents to know, Vehnon explains, the many opportunities to get involved with environmental programs. “There’s such small, simple actions they can take that can have a huge positive impact on our local environment.”
The event will take place at Nicholas Sheran Park from 3-7 p.m. Meet at the tent on the east side of the park, near the school.
