Lethbridge School Division prepares for potential teacher strike action

With a potential strike notice to possibly come at any given moment, Alberta students and parents are readying for schools to be potentially closed Monday across the province.

According to the Lethbridge School Division, as the latest proposed settlement between the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association was not approved by teachers, the division is aware of the ATA’s stated intention to commence job action Monday.

“As such, the Division is preparing for the possibility of a full strike, beginning Monday.
As of now, schools will remain open until the Division receives official strike notice from the ATA,” notes the Division. “We understand this is an incredibly difficult time for the Division community. We are hopeful both parties will return to the bargaining table soon to reach a resolution.”

Parents can access more information throughout the process by visiting the Division’s Labour Relations website at labourrelations.schoolsites.ca.
