Snowfall and fog notices issued for Lethbridge

Lethbridge and the surrounding region are under two weather alerts.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning and a fog advisory for the area.

The agency says snow is expected to start falling in Lethbridge on Thursday afternoon, with 15 to 20 centimetres in the forecast. The snowfall is anticipated to intensify overnight into Friday, but Environment Canada says it will taper off from west to east Friday evening.

Officials advise drivers to allow for extra travel time and to account for visibility issues caused by the snow and fog.

If driving, the agency says motorists should turn on their lights, slow down, and maintain a safe distance from other drivers.

The weather notices are under Environment Canada’s new colour-coded system, and are listed as ‘yellow’, which are now issued when there is potential for moderate damage or health impacts.
