Hurricanes’ Kyle Heger selected for 2026 WHL Prospects Game

One of the newer members of the Lethbridge Hurricanes has been recognized by the Western Hockey League.

Defenseman Kyle Heger has been selected to play in the 2026 WHL Prospects Game, presented by Showpass. Heger will suit up for Team East.

The game is set for Wednesday, February 18 at the Langley Events Centre, home of the Vancouver Giants, in Langley, British Columbia.

The 18-year-old Heger was acquired by the Lethbridge club on January 7, in a deal with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Originally from Eagan, Minnesota, he has skated in seven games with the Hurricanes, recording four assists and one goal, along with four penalty minutes.

He was initially drafted by the Medicine Hat Tigers with the 135th pick in the seventh round of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

Recently, Heger was ranked 67th among North American skaters for the 2026 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the NHL Central Scouting Service on their Midterm Rankings. He had previously been listed as a ‘B’ skater on the Preliminary Players to Watch List.

A total of 44 prospects from the WHL will compete in the Prospects Game. It will be the first event of this kind held by the WHL since 2020.

The complete roster for Team East is available here, with the roster for Team West available here. Tickets for the game are available on the Vancouver Giants website.
