Lethbridge Hurricanes raising funds for cardiac care campaign

The Lethbridge Hurricanes are set to do something special this Friday.

Their matchup against the Everett Silvertips on February 13 will support the Bringing Hearts Home Cardiac Campaign, which is raising funds for a new cardiac care centre at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge and in Medicine Hat.

The goal of the campaign is to raise $30 million by 2027.

The ‘Canes will wear specially designed ‘Bringing Hearts Home’ jerseys during the game. Fans can bid on the jerseys, with the online silent auction ending at 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 24. All proceeds will go directly toward the cardiac campaign.

The club says $5 from every ticket purchased for the game will go toward the health initiative. Fans can use the promo code 4CRH when buying their tickets.

A limited number of commemorative pucks will also be available for sale at the Friday game for $10, with proceeds supporting the Bringing Hearts Home Cardiac Campaign.

Additionally, the Hurricanes will donate $50 for every point recorded by forward Tyden Lafournaise for the rest of the season, and retroactively to the start of the 2025-26 campaign. Lafournaise, whose father was lost due to cardiac arrest last year, has 13 points (eight goals, five assists) on the season so far, making the current donation amount $650.

“This game is about more than hockey,” says the Hurricanes’ general manager of business operations Terry Huisman. “It’s about community – family, friends, and neighbours – and making sure the care they need it right here, right now.”

Huisman notes, “This campaign is meaningful to our entire community, and especially to our organization, as we have multiple staff and volunteers who have been affected by cardiac health issues or know someone who has.”

“Thank you to the Hurricanes organization and their fans for their support, which represents a community choosing to change its future,” adds Dr. Sayeh Zielke, physician lead for cardiac services in the AHS South Zone.

More information about the cardiac campaign is available at the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation website.

The Hurricanes host the Everett Silvertips at 7 p.m. Friday, February 13 at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
