Winter is set to snow itself in Lethbridge today.
After weeks of spring-like conditions, a blowing snow – yellow advisory is in effect for Lethbridge and the surrounding region.
Environment Canada says up to 15 centimetres is expected by late Tuesday evening.
Although conditions are expected to improve at night, strong north to northwest wind gusts, listed at hitting up to 70 kilometres per hour, might cause visibility issues for drivers.
The weather agency suggests postponing non-essential travel if possible.
“If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance,” states the advisory from Environment Canada.
In Lethbridge, the temperature is expected to drop to minus 13 degrees Celsius Tuesday afternoon, with wind chill at minus 25.
Additionally, Environment Canada says there is a risk of freezing rain and patches of fog, further worsening visibility in some areas.
More notices, including snowfall and winter storm advisories, are in effect in other parts of the province. Further details are on the Environment Canada website.
