RCMP are investigating a fatal crash Tuesday (Nov. 19) which backed up traffic for several hours along Highway 3, west of Fort Macleod.

Police and emergency crews were called out around 9:00 am to an area between Brocket and Pincher Creek.

Piikani RCMP say the preliminary investigation revealed a car was heading eastbound on Highway 3 when it struck a westbound cattle liner head on.

A 75 year old man from Pincher Creek was killed and died at the scene. He was the lone occupant of the car. The driver of the semi wasn’t hurt.

Mounties say traffic was being re-routed as cattle was being removed.

The name of the man killed will not be released.
