Coalhurst launches redesigned municipal website

The Town of Coalhurst has refreshed its municipal website with a redesigned platform intended to make it easier for residents, businesses and visitors to find information and connect with the local government.

The update includes revised navigation and new tools designed to improve access to municipal services, council information, community news and local resources.
Mayor Deb Florence said the updated platform is meant to reflect the community’s values while improving communication with residents.

“Our website should reflect the kind of community Coalhurst is — welcoming, accessible and connected,” Florence said in a statement. “This new platform makes it easier for residents to find information, stay informed and engage with their town.”

The website now includes a community events calendar and submission tool, forms to report operational concerns or bylaw complaints and updated contact forms for town staff and council. It also features a searchable business directory intended to highlight local businesses.

The redesign follows a directive from council in December 2022 to develop a more functional and user-friendly municipal website.

Chief administrative officer Karlene Betteridge said municipal websites often serve as the community’s first point of contact.

“A municipal website is often the front door to a community,” Betteridge said. “With council’s approval of a new brand and website for Coalhurst, we saw an opportunity to rethink not just how the site looks, but how it represents who we are as a community.”

Council approved funding in late 2024 for a combined town branding and website redevelopment project.

Feedback from a town identity and branding survey conducted in December 2024 helped shape the new visual identity, which was unveiled during Miners Days on July 26, 2025.
