Allied Arts Council brings back ‘Upside Downtown Arts & Concert Series’

Lethbridge’s Upside Downtown Arts and Concert Series is back for another sizzling summer season.

The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge launches the open-air music and art series in July with a dynamic roster of local talent, regional touring acts, and national headliners.

AAC Manager of Engagement Will Big Bull said the Upside Downtown Lineup Breakdown is scheduled for June 11 from 5-6 p.m. when the official list of performers will be announced.

There will be a special guest performance on Rotary Square at CASA by this year’s Alberta Artist in Residence and local singer and songwriter John Wort-Hannam.

The series kicks off July 2 and will run Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. until the end of August with the Pop Up, Get Down event Aug. 27.

“Everybody will be enjoying the music, but if people want to take a break from the music, there’s always some kind of activity for them to go and do. The Gallery is always open too, and people are always welcome to come in and check out the exhibitions,” added Big Bull.

Big Bull pointed out the Upside Downtown Arts and Concert Series is one of Lethbridge’s most anticipated annual events. “It’s very family-friendly. We’re activating a very meaningful downtown space and bringing community members together in places where we want people to always feel welcome and bring as many people into the circle, as we can.”

“We’re showcasing our local talent and the talent we have throughout this province and even throughout this country. It’s a very unique setting. It’s a free concert and everyone’s welcome,” said Big Bull.
