The Lethbridge Bulls lost 6-1 to the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Tuesday night to open up their six-game road trip.
Lethbridge, which holds a record of 6-3 on the season so far, was looking to avenge a 16-0 drubbing to the same Sylvan Lake team on Sunday afternoon at Spitz Stadium.
Kalem Haney scored the first run of the ball game in the first inning on a Carter Claerhout single. That was all of the offence that the Bulls were able to muster up as the Sylvan Lake pitchers stranded eight Bulls players on the basepaths, while striking out 10.
Claerhout, who was named the WCBL Fortis Alberta player of the week, was the lone bright spot offensively for Lethbridge, going 3-4.
Bulls starting pitcher and Mankato, Minnesota native Caeden Willaert, went five innings, gave up six hits, five earned runs, and struck out five Gulls in the loss.
The Bulls continue their six-game road swing Wednesday night in the first of four games in Fort McMurray against the Giants, who currently have a 3-3 record early in the WCBL season. The Bulls wrap up their road trip Sunday in Spruce Grove when they take on the Energy City Cactus Rats.
The Bulls return to the Spitz Stadium field in Lethbridge on Tuesday June 16 against the Okotoks Dawgs in a make-up game from the rain-out on June 1.
Tickets from the rain-out will be honored at the gate. For more ticketing information go to the Lethbridge Bulls website.
