Rodeo Reds partnership adds nightly cabaret to Lethbridge rodeo

Each night when the dust settles at the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo, the celebration doesn’t have to end.

Excite Lethbridge has announced a partnership with Rodeo Reds to launch a new Rodeo Cabaret following the rodeo each night from Aug. 20 to 22 during Whoop-Up Days.

The after-hours event will be staged on the rodeo grounds south of the grandstand, where attendees can enjoy live music, dancing and opportunities to meet rodeo competitors.

Admission is included with every rodeo ticket. Visitors already attending Whoop-Up Days can also join the cabaret after 10 p.m.

Paul Kingsmith, director of event development for Excite Lethbridge, said organizers developed the new attraction after hearing from rodeo fans who wanted more entertainment once the competition wrapped up each evening.

“We have heard from our fans, who have told us that when the rodeo ends, they are ready to keep the party going,” Kingsmith said.

He added the cabaret will feature Alberta party bands performing under a large tent beside the grandstand. The partnership with Rodeo Reds is intended to create an authentic western atmosphere for the event.

Rodeo Reds, founded by rodeo producer Kynan Vine, has hosted entertainment events at major rodeos across North America, including the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, the Canadian Finals Rodeo, Country Thunder and the Cloverdale Rodeo.

Vine said Lethbridge was one of the first communities to host a Rodeo Reds event.

“Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo is one of the original locations to host a Rodeo Reds party, so it only seems fitting to expand on that partnership with a bigger and better offering,” he said.

The Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo is sanctioned by both the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Organizers also say it is the only Canadian rodeo to feature relay races as part of its nightly performances.

Advance ticket pricing is available until Aug. 17. Tickets are available through the Whoop-Up Days website.
