Designed to bring some history to the fall season, the Deathbridge Tours return, thanks to the Lethbridge Historical Society and local historian Belinda Crowson.
There will be two tours, including Flashlight Cemetery Tours and Ghost Tours.
The Flashlight Cemetery Tours will be conducted at St. Patrick’s Cemetery and it’s a historic walking tour sharing fascinating stories of past residents of southern Alberta.
The Ghost Tours share the haunted history of buildings and sites in downtown Lethbridge.
The tours will run on various evenings in September and October.
Crowson loves the opportunity to share unexpected and little-known stories from the community. “And help people connect more with this incredible city of ours.”
Lethbridge Historical Society President Lorien Johansen added residents have wonderful memories of the ‘spooky season’ tours Crowson has led throughout the years.
“I’m delighted to experience them again. I look forward to welcoming a whole new generation of history enthusiasts and continuing to show our history is filled with amazing stories,” Johansen noted.
According to Crowson, the Flashlight Cemetery Tours are back after a several-year hiatus.
“They’re selling fast with 70 per cent of the tours already sold. Don’t dawdle people. Get your tickets quickly,” Crowson joked.
Crowson added the Haunted Ghost Tours are over 40 per cent sold. “I think we’re going to have a fun fall of some spooky history.”
With the Flashlight Cemetery Tours, the stories are based on historic facts.
“But done in that ambiance, at night and with flashlights. You get a little spooky, but you’re learning history. When you get your emotions going, you remember history better. It’s a combination of great history and great ambiance,” Crowson explained.
Crowson noted members of the Lethbridge Historical Society can attend the tours for free, and the Society is back offering monthly programs to the community, as well.
