LFS celebrates Health Care Aide Day Sunday

Making a difference in people’s lives everyday, Lethbridge Family Services celebrates Health Care Aide Day Oct. 18.

LFS Health Care Aides do more than provide essential personal care. They build trusting relationships, bring comfort on difficult days, notice the small changes that matter, and help people maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life in the place they call home.

For older adults, people living with disabilities, and those navigating illness or the challenges of aging, a familiar face and a caring presence can mean everything.

For families, knowing their loved one is treated with compassion, respect, and understanding brings reassurance when they need it most.

Health Care Aides are an essential part of Alberta’s healthcare system, providing hands-on, personalized care that helps people remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.

LFS Health Care Aides assist clients with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. They also provide medication reminders in line with their role and care plan and closely monitor changes in a client’s physical or emotional well-being.

By communicating these observations to the appropriate care team members, they help ensure changing needs are recognized and addressed.

Through their knowledge, attentiveness, and trusted relationships with clients, LFS

Health Care Aides deliver more than essential care; they help people living with illness, disabilities, or age-related challenges maintain their dignity, independence, and quality of life.
