A world of Halloween magic awaits at the Lethbridge Food Bank’s Second Annual Halloween Maze.
This family-friendly event helps raise much-needed food donations for local individuals and families facing food insecurity, with admission by a non-perishable food donation.
More than just a Halloween attraction, this special community event is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
Every donation, no matter the size, creates a lasting impact for neighbours in need.
The Halloween Maze is designed to be enjoyable for families and young children, featuring festive Halloween fun without jump scares.
Whether you’re exploring the maze, enjoying the decorations, or simply supporting a great cause, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Executive Director Tim Rempel said the event is more focused on younger children to be able to have a fun time through a maze built through the food bank facility.
“They get a treat and just have a fun time associated with Halloween. A very safe, not scary, very fun kind of thing,” Rempel added.
According to Rempel, the Lethbridge Food Bank has been around for over 40 years. “It’s very much part of the community. We do things like this for a couple of reasons.”
First of all, this type of event ties the food bank to the community. “And it’s something we can provide for free,” Rempel shared. “The second reason is it does sort of get us out in the community. People can see what we do, and they have an opportunity to give donations.”
Recently, Food Banks Canada released its annual Hunger Count Report, which noted the need that is out there for food security, more than ever.
“Our community is very much experiencing a lot of the same things described in that particular report,” said Rempel. “Our need is up for sure. We’ve seen drastic increases of over 100 per cent in usage in the last five years. We need the support of the community to be able to continue to help those clients that we do have. “
The Lethbridge Food Bank’s Halloween Maze runs Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
