Taber man faces sanctions after rollover, failed breath test

A collision involving a parked vehicle in Taber has led to immediate roadside sanctions for a 32-year-old man following an impaired driving investigation.

According to Taber Police Service officials, officers and Taber Emergency Services were called to the 5200 block of 43 Avenue at about 10:35 a.m. on Oct. 18 after an eastbound vehicle struck a parked car, according to police. The impact caused the moving vehicle to roll onto its roof.

Emergency medical services assessed and treated the driver at the scene.

Police said the driver showed signs of impairment and provided breath samples that registered a fail. The resulting sanctions included a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, a 30-day vehicle seizure and a $1,200 penalty.

Taber Police Service urged motorists to avoid driving after consuming alcohol or drugs and to plan a safe way home.
