‘Big Truck Petting Zoo’ returns this weekend

Families will have a chance to see of the city’s largest trucks this weekend at the library. The City of Lethbridge is hosting its “Big Truck Petting Zoo” on May 27 at the library Crossings Branch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Considering the success of last years’ event, we’re excited to participate again,” says Joel Sanchez, director of infrastructure services, “It’s not every day you get the opportunity to meet the people, get up close with the equipment and get a firsthand look at how work is done throughout our city.”

There will be waste and recycling trucks, a police cruiser and street sweepers on display in the library parking lot. The city says there will be some new trucks and equipment this year also.

“We are thrilled to partner with the City of Lethbridge to celebrate public operations week by hosting the Big Truck Petting Zoo again. We had fantastic feedback from families last year and we are excited to welcome the community back for another event,” says Sarah Head, Lethbridge Public Library branch services manager.

Public Works Week runs May 21-27 and is meant to recognize the importance of public works in the daily operations of the city.
