The unemployment rate in the region saw slight growth in July at 5.9 per cent. According to Statistics Canada, that was a 0.2 per cent increase from the previous month but over double the unemployment rate reported in July last year.
Across Alberta, the unemployment rate was 6.1 per cent, making it the fifth-highest unemployment across the country. Across the province, Calgary finished July with the highest unemployment rate, with Camrose-Drumheller finishing with the lowest.
The national unemployment rate for Canada last month was 5.5 per cent.
