Lethbridge man charged with assault and robbery after two weekend incidents

A 36 year old Lethbridge man has been charged with assault and robbery in connection to two incidents over the weekend.

On Saturday just before 10pm, a 37 year old man was walking in the alley along the 500 block of 13th street north when a red truck stopped beside him.

A male passenger got out and after a quick verbal exchange,hit the victim twice with a baseball bat then searched through a wallet and backpack and stole cash.

Not long after that, a 42 year old man walking in an alley one street over was confronted by a passenger in a red truck and then pepper-sprayed.

Michael Joseph K Smith is facing charges in relation to the incidents. He’s in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
