Taber hosts 2025 Southern Alberta Summer Games

Taber will be bustling with Albertans athletes for the next few days.

The community plays host to the 2025 Southern Alberta Summer Games.

Hundreds of athletes will compete in different sports like three-on-three basketball, beach volleyball, five-pin bowling and esports.

Last summer, the event was hosted in Coaldale following a pause of the Games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Response to the event in Coaldale was very positive.

“Based on the feedback received last year from both new and returning athletes, we are confident that this year will also be exceptional,” says Kaylee Ostenberg, chair of the Southern Alberta Recreation Association.

A welcoming barbecue will kick things off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2 at Confederation Park, following the opening ceremonies.

The Games are in town until Saturday, July 5, with closing ceremonies set for 5 p.m. at Confederation Park.

Full schedules for each competition are available on the Summer Games website, with additional updates provided on the Games’ Facebook page.
