Christmas at Casa highlights fine art and craft

Get in the holiday spirit with the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge’s 12th Annual Christmas at Casa Market highlighting fine art and fine craft from the artists of southern Alberta.

The free event runs this Friday from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Non-perishable food items for the food bank are welcomed.

Meet the artists, artisans and crafters from southern Alberta who have been toiling throughout the year. Many disciplines are represented at the market, including jewelry, glassworks, pottery, fine art, textiles, photography and woodturning.

Local musicians will play holiday standards, including the local group Christmas 1965. Greeting cards and holiday ornaments to support the Accessibility Modified Art Programs for Adults and The Gallery at Casa will be for sale. Casa is accepting donations for the Lethbridge Food Bank and Angel Tree initiatives, as well.

New this year is the Mini-European Style Market, kicking off Christmas at Casa from 5-7 p.m. Friday on Rotary Square. Wreath Kits will be available for sale, along with a performance by the Southern Accord Chorus Society.

Proceeds from this event will benefit community arts programming. Gluhwein, a German-style mulled wine will be available for purchase, as well as hot chocolate. Santa Claus will be available for pictures for a $10 donation. Don’t forget to bring some cash, as there is no ATM at Casa.
