Former Hurricanes defenseman, Clay Plume, passes away at age 37

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes are mourning the loss of former player, Clay Plume.

He passed away this week at the age of 37.

The Hurricanes took to social media Thursday to extend their condolences to his family, friends and teammates, saying Plume is #ForeverACane.”

Hailing from Standoff, Plume played for the Hurricanes between 2001 and 2004 before ending his WHL career with the Prince George Cougars.

He went on to play in the ECHL (2003-2005) and Central Hockey League (2005-2011) for several years.

No cause of death has been released at this time.
