Fire ban lifted in Lethbridge County, fire restriction now in place

LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Precipitation this week has somewhat put a damper on the extreme potential for fires across many areas in southern Alberta, including Lethbridge County.

The full burning ban, issued back on June 28th, was downgraded on Thursday to a fire restriction.

County officials say recent rainfall has provided some much-needed moisture to the area, but the fire risk still remains.

Under the Restriction, no fire permits or fireworks permits will be issued until further notice.

Regional campfires in campgrounds or backyard fire pits and acceptable incinerators that meet County requirements are permitted once again.

Meanwhile, Vulcan County has also downgraded to a fire restriction as well as the MD of Willow Creek.

You can see all the fire bans, restrictions, and advisories on the Alberta Fire website.
