McCain Foundation donates $200k to Link Pathway project

The McCain Foundation has donated $200,000 to support the Link Pathway project. The pathway is a multi-use trail that will connect Lethbridge and Coaldale for pedestrians and cyclists.

The first phase of the trail is under construction, starting near the Land O’Lakes golf club with plans to stretch to Highway 512, where a pedestrian tunnel under the highway is planned. If enough funds are raised, construction on the tunnel and the path to Lethbridge will start next year, according to the Link Pathway Committee.

BACKGROUND: Construction begins on first phase of LINK Pathway between Coaldale and Lethbridge

“The Link Pathway is a recreation amenity that families can use at no cost. It is very exciting to see McCains investing in the communities where their families live, work and play. McCains is a Family first corporation so it is exciting to see McCains recognize the alignment of values with this gift,” said committee chair, Henry Doeve.

The donation will be used for various aspects of the project, including construction, safety enhancements, signs and community engagement initiatives.
