1976 plane expected to ‘land’ at the Lethbridge Airport Monday morning

Drivers on Highway 508 and Highway 5 Monday morning could see a different flight, with the Fokker F 28-1000 being on the last leg of its journey to the Lethbridge Airport.

According to the Time Air Historical Society, the main body of the plain is scheduled to leave Ritchie Brothers around 9 a.m. Monday, April 29th and will go West on Highway 508 to join Highway 5 North and continue on to the final destination. According to posts on social media from the historical society, the tail and wings of the plane are already at the local airport, so the body is the last piece of the puzzle to arrive before reassembly can begin. Two large cranes are needed at the airport to help with the reconstruction.

The return of the 65-seat plane that was built in 1976 reportedly gives the organization a starting point for creating an Aviation Museum in the city.

The Fokker F 28-1000 was transported by a truck convoy from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Lethbridge.
