Feds announce funding for southern Alberta arts and culture

The federal government announcing just under $1.5-million to support local festivals, the performing arts, and community celebrations in southern Alberta.

From the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program, the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge will see $5,500 for Arts Days while the Taber and District Chamber of Commerce is getting support for Cornfest to the tune of $7,500.

At least $6,600 from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund has been earmarked for the Lethbridge Jazz Society and its Jazz and Blues Festival.

The South Country Fair Association in Fort Macleod is set to receive at least $19,800 from that fund.

Calgary MP Kent Hehr made the announcement Thursday on behalf of the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, Pablo Rodriguez.
