City to host unique run through Mountain View Cemetery

At the end of September, the City of Lethbridge will be putting on a community-orientated run honouring those from the past.

The Parks and Cemeteries team is putting on the inaugural ‘Run to Remember’ in Mountain View Cemetery. Cemetery Coordinator Ryan Chudyk says while most would not think of a cemetery as a recreational destination, the run will be a way to honour and celebrate loved ones while showcasing the landscape in the area.

“We want to create an event that honours the past while bringing the community together in a unique way,” Chudyk says.

According to the City, the routes will go past historic headstones and the 5-kilometre route will be a double loop of the cemetery. There will be first and second-place awards handed out in each age group at the family-friendly event.

Registration for the September 29th run is open and can be done online. Anyone interested in volunteering can email [email protected].
