Fire restriction downgraded to advisory in Lethbridge County

Due to recent rainfall and cooler temperatures in the region, the fire restriction in Lethbridge County has been downgraded to a fire advisory.

Along with the use of recreational campfires in approved fire pits, propane and gas-operated devices, and charcoal briquette barbecues, the restriction also allows permitted controlled burns, permitted fireworks displays and the use of burning barrels and incinerators with spark arrestors.

Although the risk of wildfires has decreased in the region, officials are advising people that warmer conditions are forecasted in the coming weeks, and the risk could increase.

Officials are also reminding that wildfires can still start easily under dry or windy conditions and are urging people to use caution when conducting any type of burning activity. This includes ensuring fires are never left unattended and making sure fires are fully extinguished.
