The 62-year-old man driving the motorcycle was seriously injured and taken to Chinook Regional Hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Traffic Response Unit investigation found that the motorcycle was going westbound on Highway 3 when it ran a red light and collided with the truck, which was making a left turn northbound onto 30 Street North.

Police say they believe speed was a factor, with witnesses reporting that the motorcycle driver “engaged in a dangerous maneuver to overtake another vehicle before proceeding through the intersection”.

The LPS is reminding all drivers to pay attention, obey the rules of the road, and drive safely and defensively.

In the past two years, there have been seven fatal collisions, with four involving motorcycles, one pedestrian and two vehicle occupants (one driver and one passenger).
