Coalhurst councillor Deb Florence to run for mayor

With hands-on experience as a current Town of Coalhurst Councillor, Deb Florence has “a deep understanding of municipal processes,” and has experience in policy development and fiscal accountability.

Florence, who has lived in the community since 2011, is running as a mayoral candidate in the upcoming Municipal Election.

“While this is my first time running for mayor, my council experience gives me firsthand knowledge of how decisions affect our residents and businesses and the insight to lead with confidence from day one,” Florence notes.

One of Florence’s goals, if elected mayor, would be to encourage more community engagement and volunteerism to keep Coalhurst connected and thriving.

Another goal is to support sustainable growth and business development, “making it easier for businesses to thrive – while preserving the character of our town,” adds Florence.

The mayoral candidate has been actively involved in community events, as a volunteer and served on the Alberta Management Agency, supporting local emergency response.

If elected mayor, the candidate would listen, act and “make life easier for residents and businesses,” says Florence.

Most importantly, Florence would like to remind voters, “your voice shapes the decisions that affect your daily life. Make sure to get out and vote.”
