Teen with minor injuries after being hit by car on west side

A 13 year old boy was taken to hospital Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 13) after he was hit by a vehicle on the west side.

It happened over the noon hour at University Drive and Garry Drive West near Father Leonard Van Tighem school (FLVT).

Lethbridge Police say the north-south traffic lights on University Drive at that intersection had turned green when the boy ran across the road in front of on-coming traffic and was hit.

An email sent to parents of students at FLVT stated the boy had been taken to hospital and was recovering. LPS say his injuries were not life-threatening.

No charges will be laid.

Police and school officials are both reminding pedestrians and students to obey all traffic control devices.
