Calgary man dies after falling through ice at Little Bow Provincial Park

A 59 year old Calgary man has died after falling through the ice at Little Bow Provincial Park.

Vulcan RCMP say they were called out around 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon.

Two men were on the ice fishing and one of them fell through.

The second man tried to rescue his fishing partner but fell in himself.

A third man nearby threw a rope and managed to pull one to safety but was unable to rescue the other who had fallen in second.

Lomond and Champion Fire Departments responded and pulled the man from the water.

He was taken to a local hospital but did not survive.

Mounties say no further information will be released.
