City hosting two environmental community events in June

The City of Lethbridge’s Waste and Environment department is set to host a couple of environmental events next month.

To mark Environment Week, which is May 31-June 6, the department hosts a compost and mulch giveaway, and a ‘Beyond-the-Bin Recycling Roundup’.

COMPOST AND MULCH GIVEAWAY

Residents are invited to stop by the east parking lot at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on June 3, between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., to collect free compost and mulch.

Officials said residents need to bring their own shovels, gloves and containers, and the event will run until supplies last.

Households are limited to a maximum of 40 litres of compost and 40 litres of mulch.

BEYOND-THE-BIN RECYCLING ROUNDUP

The ‘Beyond-the-Bin Recycling Roundup’ is set for June 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the northwest parking lot at Park Place Mall.

The event will allow residents to drop off tricky household waste like aerosol cans, used oil, paint, batteries, and other electronics.
