Bylaw officers in Taber have responded to a pair of what is being described as unusual wildlife-related calls.
According to Taber Police Service officials, on May 29, bylaw officers were dispatched to a business in the town’s industrial area following reports of a raccoon behaving aggressively. Officials said the animal was hissing at people and peering through windows, raising concerns among staff and visitors.
Officers safely captured the raccoon and relocated it outside town without incident.

Less than a week later, officers responded to a second unusual call, this time involving a bird reportedly trapped inside an interior wall of a home in the 6100 block of 50 Street.
“After the homeowner carefully opened a section of the wall, Officer Dyrland was able to safely capture the bird and release it unharmed outdoors,” the Taber Police Service post read.
According to officials, the two incidents highlight the diverse range of situations bylaw officers can encounter during their daily duties, particularly during the warmer months when wildlife activity increases.
Town of Taber officials also expressed appreciation for the efforts of bylaw staff, noting their ongoing commitment to assisting both residents and wildlife throughout the community.
The successful outcomes of both incidents serve as a reminder of the important role bylaw officers play in ensuring public safety while helping animals in distress.
