Utility work continues south of Whoop-Up Drive

Electric utility project work continues on Bull Trail Park, south of Whoop-Up Drive.

The City of Lethbridge reminds you to avoid the area.

Hundreds of metres of casing and conduits are laid out on the west side of the Oldman River.

According to the City, due to limited space in the area, workers need to cross Coal Banks Trail, paved pathways, and offroad trails. “They present a significant risk for pedestrians and cyclists who disregard signage and barricades.”

Until Oct. 26, crews will prepare the casing before it goes underground, through a process called pigging.

It uses high pressure to push a device through the casing to clean it and inspect its condition.

Pigging can pose a safety hazard to anyone who enters the construction site. Closures and access to the area will be strictly enforced.
