Permanent, year-round hours coming to Lethbridge County area transfer stations

Lethbridge County has announced that all Lethbridge Regional Waste Management Services Commission transfer stations will soon have consistent hours of operation.

Beginning Nov. 1, the stations will all operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round.

Prior to this, the operating hours changed at Daylight Saving Time, but as the province is no longer changing its clocks, officials said they are replacing the stations’ summer and winter hours with one schedule for the whole year.

This will result in longer hours over the winter months, adding convenience for users.

The Coaldale and Picture Butte stations are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, while the Iron Springs and Nobleford stations are open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The sites accept various items, including household garbage, yard waste, electronics like televisions and computers, tires, wood, and more.

Those living in Lethbridge County, Picture Butte or Nobleford are part of the commission, and can use any transfer station for free, for most items. Officials said that residents in other communities are allowed to use the sites, but fees will apply.

“Our transfer stations are here to make it easy to get rid of waste the right way,” the County stated. “Dumping garbage in ditches, coulees or on public or private land is illegal, and so is burning anything other than yard waste. Fines apply.”

Those with questions about items can contact DBS Environmental at 403-328-4833. More information is also available on the Lethbridge County website.
