Defence ready to take next step in random assault case

An Ottawa man, who’s accused of attacking a Lethbridge woman inside her south side garage last month, was back in court on Friday (June 21).

Adam Hobkirk-Onate appeared via CCTV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre. He’s charged with aggravated assault.

The 21-year old’s lawyer told the court he’s waiting to hear back from the Crown as to the next steps in this case.

Hobkirk-Onate is accused of sneaking into the basement of a 75-year old woman on Fairway Street South, staying there for a day, and then beating her with a bicycle and stealing her vehicle.

The case has been adjourned to June 28.
