Fire Bans: Burning now off limits across most of southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The weather situation isn’t getting much better as more fire bans have been issued across this part of the province.

This time is it’s the MD of Pincher Creek and the southern portion of the Calgary Forest Area, which includes all of the Crowsnest Pass.

That means all wood campfires on public and private land as well as campgrounds is now totally off limits. Fireworks are also prohibited.

This follows the towns of Fort Macleod, Claresholm, and Pincher Creek issuing fire bans on Tuesday.

Only propane and gas appliances used for cooking are allowed in areas under burning bans.

The wildfire risk is extreme across southern Alberta with very hot weather and virtually no rain for the past several weeks.

You can see all the bans, restrictions, and advisories in place with Alberta Fire Bans.
