Milk River RCMP hands out dozens of tickets for construction zone speeders

Milk River RCMP are reminding drivers to slow down and pay attention to speed limits in construction zones.

On Friday, May 26th, officers received a call from Volker Steven highway crew who had set up a three kilometre long construction zone for CP Rail to work on a train crossing near Coutts and vehicles were not slowing down.

Officers arrived at the scene and issued 10 violation tickets to those who were speeding through the construction zone with workers present. On Saturday, they went back and issued 35 more tickets for the same offence.

One of the vehicles pulled over was a transport truck that was driving 88 kilometres an hour in a 50 kilometre an hour speed zone, which resulted in a fine of $696.
