A couple from Taber has died after a crash Saturday evening (July 27) south of Lethbridge.
Coaldale RCMP say a semi-truck collided with an SUV along Highway 4 at the intersection of Range Road 205 around 7:30 pm.
The semi was hauling agricultural equipment and heading southbound when it slammed into the driver’s side of the SUV, which police say was crossing in the middle of the highway at the time.
Mounties caution there is a stop sign at that intersection.
The impact on the SUV was severe with a couple in their 80’s being killed. The driver and passenger of the semi were not injured.
That portion of Highway 4 was closed for about six hours as police investigated.
Coaldale RCMP say the names of the two people killed will not be released and no charges will be laid.
