Weekly downtown farmers’ market kicks off for the summer

The Downtown Lethbridge Farmers’ Market was open for the first Wednesday of the season this week. It will happen at Festival Square every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. all summer.

“What a perfect day in Festival Square to kick off. We are here with 20-30 local, regional vendors, kicking off our farmers’ market season that runs from today through September sixth,” said Lethbridge and District Exhibition chief executive officers Mike Warkentin. “This gives us the opportunity to get off campus, which we don’t have a lot of opportunity to do in the summer, to contribute to the downtown core — it’s our way of supporting the revitalization of downtown and as you can see, the community loves the downtown market.”

The market is a partnership between the Lethbridge and District Exhibition and the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ and will be held rain or shine.

Residents can expect to find fresh produce, baked goods, homemade crafts and many other local offerings from various vendors.
