Milk River emergency room closed for the day

The Milk River Health Centre emergency department will close at 8 a.m. on July 7 and reopen at 6 p.m. the same day. Alberta Health Services says the closure is because of a lack of physician coverage and nursing staff will remain on site to care for long term residents.

“AHS is working hard to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need during this time,” reads a news release from AHS. “Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS calls will be re-routed to Raymond Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Raymond Health Centre and Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.”

The health authority also reminds residents they can call Health Link at 811 for non-emergency medical questions.
