Whoop-Up Days parade leads to road closures, possible travel delays

Drivers in Lethbridge are being advised of road closures on Tuesday as the city kicks off Whoop-Up Days with the annual parade.

The parade route starts at Park Place Mall, heading south on 3 Street South, then east on 3 Avenue South out of downtown. The parade will continue north along 13 Street, east on 9 Avenue North, ending at Galbraith Elementary.

The parade is scheduled to start at 9 a.m., and the City of Lethbridge advises drivers to plan for possible road closures and delays; some transit routes could also be impacted. Following the parade, the Mayor’s Community Barbecue will be outside city hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Lethbridge & District Exhibition grounds will open for the five-day event at noon. Those planning to attend the annual event are advised of limited parking in the area.

“Residents and visitors are encouraged to take Lethbridge Transit, ride share, or take a Neuron Mobility e-scooter or e-bike to Lethbridge & District Exhibition.”

Admission to this year’s event is free.
