Two facing charges for stealing copper from critical infrastructure around Pincher Creek

Two people are facing charges after several incidents of copper theft from critical infrastructure around Pincher Creek. According to RCMP, the thefts have resulted in several hundred dollars worth of damage and impacted local drinking water supplies.

“On the night of Nov. 27, 2023, a local land owner and a utility employee located two individuals actively stripping wire from a wind turbine near Pincher Creek. They quickly contacted the RCMP and officers were able to attend and arrest the two persons responsible,” reads a news release from RCMP. “Pincher Creek Detachment greatly appreciates the assistance that they received on this file and were able to recover numerous stolen items as a result of the investigation. “

Johannes Jorgensen, 46, a resident of Lundbreck and Daniel Price, 57, a resident of Pincher Creek, face charges including break and enter, theft over $5,000, mischief over $5,000, possession of break in instruments and two offenses under the Critical Infrastructure Defence Act

They are both scheduled to appear in court in Pincher Creek on Nov. 30.
