Lethbridge Police lay charges in year old robbery investigation

A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged robbery of a 77-year-old woman at the end of 2022.

According to the Lethbridge Police Service on November, 4th 2022 the woman was assaulted in the parking lot of the Bank of Montreal, along the 600 block of 4 Avenue South, where the suspect allegedly her keys and stole her vehicle.

The initial release from police reads, “Investigation determined the senior had parked her white Hyundai Santa Fe SUV and was making her way inside when a male grabbed her from behind, forcibly took her keys and threw her to the ground. He proceeded to her vehicle and left the area at a high rate of speed. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.”

Police reportedly found the SUV a day later abandoned on the side of Highway 3 east of the city.

Sheldon Wilson is facing robbery charges, and has been released with conditions. He is scheduled to next appear in court on January 19th, 2024.
