Lethbridge Police offer information check applications online

The Lethbridge Police Service is now taking applications for police information checks online.

Residents can create a secure account on the police service’s website to complete the necessary forms and pay for the applications. If no follow-up, such as fingerprinting, is required, there is no need to go to the station.

“All aspects of the process, including verification of identity, payment and access to the results, will be managed electronically. If there are no concerns or follow-up required, applicants will be able to securely download their PIC certificate,” reads a news release from LPS. “Although it won’t entirely replace the in-person process, the ability to submit PICs online is anticipated to significantly reduce the need for residents to attend the station.”

Residents will have to go to the station if they fail the identity authentication process or they don’t have one year worth of credit history to confirm their identity. Minors also must attend in person for police information checks, with a parent or guardian.
